History

IFD is an innovative non-profit organization, established in 1993 and granted tax exempt organization status as a 501(c)(3) in 2011 to manage private and publicly funded projects in education, health, and economic development in US Hispanic and Caribbean communities. IFD was established in response to the need of having a sustainable US Hispanic mechanism for providing support to the NGOs sector. IFD empowers thousands of non-profit organizations to better provide vital services to engage citizens in a healthy democracy and taking ownership of their future through educational activities that nurture civics, social services, and economic development. Conceived in collaborative agreements with leading National organizations, IFD mobilizes donor funding to deliver a unique combination of direct services, grant management, and capacity building programs that enhance the effectiveness, self-reliance, and sustainability of NGOs in Puerto Rico, US Virgin Islands, and US Hispanic communities.

Our Mission

Promote the development of the Non-Profit Organizations Sector of Puerto Rico & U.S. Virgin Islands by identifying their individual needs and addressing them through innovative initiatives that increase their resilience and economic competitiveness.
